SUMMARY:Edward “Ted” Burgess
DESCRIPTION:In Loving Memory\n\nEdward “Ted” Burgess passed away on Thursday, May 15, 2025 at the age of 95.\nTed, beloved husband of the late Mary “Mamie”, loving father of Janette and Carolyn, cherished Grandpa of Charlotte.\nTed was a devoted and loving, father, grandpa, brother, uncle, cousin, friend…. He was known as ‘Dad ‘and ‘Grandpa’ to our extended family and friends all of whom he loved very much.\nBorn in England, son of Wilfred and Bertha Burgess and brother to Lionel, Betty, Owen, Bernard, John, Stanley and Colin. Ted was a hard working, kind and gentle man with a wonderful sense of humour. The son of a fisherman and a child evacuee during WWII, Ted went on to forge his own path. Serving in the British Army in the Corps of Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers and stationed in Singapore, opened the world to him. And after a few more years returning to and working in England, Ted heeded the call of adventure which led him to emigrate to Canada, where he met and married in 1957, his beloved Mamie, a Scottish girl whose desire for adventure brought her to Canada just a few years before.\nTed worked hard to support his family taking night school courses to further his career, with Mamie holding down the fort. As the years progressed his work took him on travels around the world. Janette and Carolyn still have bracelets filled with charms from each of the many countries he visited. A family transfer to the Netherlands later in his career provided many more adventures for the whole family.\nIn recent years Ted had been working on a Memoir, and only finished fine tuning it just a few weeks before he passed. It is a cherished document that we will hold dear to our hearts. It is bursting with life experiences that many of our friends and family had not been aware.\nTed, Dad, Grandpa…We love you so much!\nVisitations for Ted will be held at McEachnie Funeral Home on Saturday, May 24, 2025, from 2:00p.m.-3:00p.m. A celebration will follow in the chapel at 3:00p.m.\nIn lieu of flowers, donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated.\nThe Burgess family would also like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the SHN Centenary Hospital and the Palliative Care Team at Providence Hospital.\n \nTechnical Difficulties Disclaimer:\n*In the event of technical difficulties, kindly refresh the webpage.
