SUMMARY:Joan Fischer
DESCRIPTION:\nIn Loving Memory\n\n“It is more blessed to give than to receive.” Acts 20:35\n\nIt is with heavy sadness that we announce the passing of Joan Kathleen Fischer, born on\nJanuary 5, 1934, in the picturesque town of Knysna, South Africa. Joan left this world at\nthe age of 91 on August 21, 2025, in Peterborough, Canada, where she spent her final days\nsurrounded by love. Joan lived a life filled with tremendous passion and service towards\nothers. The void felt by her passing cannot be described in words.\nJoan was a humble woman. She was selfless. She inspired everyone around her with her\ndedication to her family and community. A devout member of The New Apostolic Church\nduring her time in South Africa and then in Canada after she immigrated here in 1987, her\nGod-fearing nature and unwavering devotion made her a beacon of hope, strength, and\nfaith.\nPreceded in joining the Lord are her parents John and Maud Beukes (nee Prinsloo), who\ninstilled in her the importance of hard work—an attribute that would define her character\nthroughout her life.\nJoan is survived by her husband Harry Fischer; her son Wayne and his children Angelique,\nRenee, and Catherine, and his grandchildren Cylus, Carmen, and Jackson; her daughter\nLynndee with husband Carl and their children Andrea (Shane) and Pierre; her son Clive\nwith wife Michelle, their children Victoria and Bradley, and their grandchild Mya; her\ndaughter Annaliese with husband Rick and their children Nataylia and Sabastion. Alongside\nher immediate family, Joan also leaves behind her stepdaughter Wendy and her children\nCamilo (Geneva), Ella (Jake), Liam (Victoria); her stepdaughter Jackie and her children\nTony and Nicholas; and her stepdaughter Andrea with husband Ryan and their children\nMarten, Jason, and Jasmine.\nJoan’s journey through life included becoming an internationally published author at 88\nyears old. She had an insatiable appetite for learning and expressing her creativity, as was\nevidenced through the many gorgeous wedding and confirmation dresses and suits she\npainstakingly sewed when asked, the baked delicacies she lovingly made for family and\nfriends, her delightful floral arrangements she happily made for church and friends, and\nher beautifully crocheted gifts from booties to blankets—to name only a few. Joan’s\npassions also included reading, cooking, crafting jewelry, and engaging in puzzles and\nword games; she had a brilliant mind. She was a woman of incredible talents, annually\nwinning multiple first-place prizes at The Norwood Fall Fair for her crocheted creations and\ndelicious baked goods. Joan’s literary prowess also earned her the Editors’ Choice Award\nfor Outstanding Achievement in Poetry, a testament to her ability to articulate the beauty of\nlife through words. Receiving the “Volunteer of the Year” award for her detailed work as a\nlibrarian for the Jubilee Choir, speaks to her devotion to enriching the lives of others. Never\none to miss choir practise unless absolutely unavoidable, Joan absolutely loved singing in\nher New Apostolic local, senior, and district choirs.\nIn accordance with Joan’s wishes, we request that donations be made to The New\nApostolic Church in lieu of flowers.\nAs we bid farewell to Joan Kathleen Fischer, we celebrate a life that was nothing short of\ninspiring; one that had a profound impact on all who had the privilege to know her. May her\nspirit continue to inspire us and guide us as we carry her memory forward the way she\nwould have wanted.\nRest in peace, dear Joan. Your light will shine on in the hearts of all who knew and loved\nyou.\n\n\nTechnical Difficulties Disclaimer:\n*In the event of technical difficulties, kindly refresh the webpage.
