DESCRIPTION:\nIn Loving Memory\n\n\nGABRIELLE, Denis Michael Stephen, known fondly as Michael, passed away peacefully on September 27, 2025, at Sunnybrook Hospital at the age of 75. Born on May 20, 1950, in Geita, Tanzania, Michael lived a rich and meaningful life devoted to service, learning, and love of family. He was the beloved husband of Cheryl Gabrielle, a caring brother to Terry Gabrielle and sister-in-law Jaqueline Dunn-Gabrielle and was predeceased by his brother Desmond Gabrielle and parents Louis and Stephania Gabrielle. He will be lovingly remembered by his nieces Clare Gabrielle, Amanda Johnson, Ashley Cubbage, Katlyn Cubbage, and nephews James Gabrielle and Ryan Lynde.\nMichael built a remarkable career as a family doctor and coroner, serving with dedication and integrity. His work reflected his deep compassion and commitment to helping others. Beyond his profession, he was a proud Mason and Shriner, contributing his time and energy to community and charitable causes.\nA man of many passions, Michael had an enduring love for history, photography, travel, and cooking. His adventures around the world sparked his appreciation for diverse cultures, fine cuisine, and the arts—especially opera and theatre. Deeply rooted in his faith and values, Michael was known for his warmth, curiosity, and thoughtful conversations about history and politics. He shared a special bond with his beloved companions, his dog Vilja and Conure Squawk.\nA visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 1, 2025, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at McEachnie Funeral Home. A funeral service will follow on Thursday, October 2, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at McEachnie Funeral Home. Interment at Erskine Cemetery. A reception will be held at McEachnie Funeral Home following the interment.\nIn lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to the Kidney Foundation in Michael’s memory.\nThe family wishes to extend heartfelt thanks to the medical staff at Huntsville Emergency Unit, Sunnybrook Critical Care Unit and the Whitby Dialysis Clinic for their compassion and care.
