SUMMARY:Paul Hickling
DESCRIPTION:In Loving Memory\n\n\nIt is with great sadness the family of Paul Bernard Hickling, one month shy of his 83rd birthday, passed away peacefully at Ballycliffe Long Term Care on Friday, May 8, 2026. Predeceased by his parents Frank and Dorothy (Weston) Hickling, siblings Florence Swire (Lloyd deceased), Marg Hickling, Fran Hennessy, Barb Minaret (Alf deceased), Joan Vaher (Ado), Mike (Madeleine) and Dorothy Hickling. He is survived by his sister, Teresa McRae (Ron), many nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, and great-great nieces and nephews. He will be dearly and greatly missed by his extended family and friends.\nPaul was a member of the Optimist Club, volunteered at Durham Region Single Dances, was involved in political volunteering and Ajax Home Week (serving one year as Chairman).\nPaul enjoyed gardening, was a great cook who loved to barbecue and loved to spend outdoors in the summer (wearing shorts and Birkenstock sandals from March – October!) Paul was always willing to help anyone with any project or ready to tackle any task. Paul had a heart of gold and a truly generous spirit, he never hesitated to lend a hand to a neighbour, friend or family, leaving a legacy of kindness and love to everyone who knew him.\nThe family would like to express their deep gratitude for the care and support he received on 2 East at Lakeridge Ajax Hospital and the amazing crew of staff in his Seaton Trail neighbourhood at Ballycliffe.\nIn lieu of flowers, donations would be appreciated to the Alzheimer Society of Durham Region.\nVisitation will be held at McEachnie Funeral Home on Thursday May 14th from 11:00 am to 1:30 pm followed by a service in the chapel at 1:30 pm with interment of cremated remains to follow at Resurrection Cemetery.\n\n \nTechnical Difficulties Disclaimer:\n*In the event of technical difficulties, kindly refresh the webpage.
