In Loving Memory

Essence of Amanda

Amanda (Doreen to some, Indra to family) was born in Georgetown, Guyana, the cherished youngest of seven children and the only girl among six older brothers. Growing up in such a lively household, she became a spirited tomboy who held her own with ease, while always remaining the beautiful gem her parents adored.

From an early age, Amanda was a force of nature. Her adventurous spirit carried her to Canada, where she quickly built a life of purpose and meaning. Determined and hardworking, she embraced each opportunity and shaped a world that reflected her values and her generous heart.

With her husband, Martin, they built a loving family and raised a son and daughter who grew into kind, capable, and compassionate adults. Family was her guiding light, and love was the foundation of everything she did. Through life’s joys and challenges, she remained steadfast in believing deeply in the power of love to carry her through.

Raised to value education, independence, and compassion, Amanda lived those principles fiercely. She gave selflessly, often putting others first, and believed each day offered the promise of renewal and hope.

Of all the seasons, Christmas held a special and sacred place in Amanda’s heart. As a child, Christmas meant gathering with her parents and brothers – sharing meals, laughter, traditions, and togetherness. Those moments stayed with her, and she was determined to carry that magic forward. She poured her heart into creating Christmas memories for her own family, believing the holiday was about warmth, connection, and love. For Amanda, Christmas was not just a day – it was a feeling, a reminder of what mattered most: family, kindness, and being together.

Amanda loved to travel and embraced new experiences with joy and curiosity. Her laughter was contagious, her loyalty unwavering. She cried with those who hurt and stood ready to support anyone in need. Her unique sense of humour uplifted those around her, and her confident, playful fashion sense reflected her vibrant spirit. She was truly extraordinary.

If asked whether she had regrets, Amanda would say no. She leaves behind a legacy of love as a devoted wife, a caring mother, and a loyal friend. We remember her resilience, her compassion, her humour, and her remarkable courage, especially as she faced the illness that ultimately took her from us. You are deeply missed, our Amanda, and you will forever remain cherished and loved in our hearts.

“Take each day and enjoy it. Things have a way of working out.”
— Amanda M.
