In Loving Memory

Peacefully at Lakeridge Health Oshawa on Saturday, August 22, 2026, in her 80th year.

Ann was born on May 21, 1947, in Timmins, Ontario. Her early years took her across the country, growing up in White Rock, British Columbia, and Cornwall, Ontario. Guided by a deep compassion for others, she pursued a lifelong calling in nursing, completing her professional training at the Toronto College of Nurses.

Ann dedicated her career to caring for others across various hospitals and specialized departments. Among her many roles, she provided critical care in the Intensive Care Unit at Scarborough Centenary Hospital and welcomed new life into the world as a devoted Prenatal Nurse at both Scarborough Grace Hospital and Scarborough General Hospital. Driven by a deep commitment to learning and her profession, she remarkably earned her Master’s degree from the University of Toronto while balancing the full-time demands of being a loving wife, mother, and nurse.

Beyond bedside care, Ann was a passionate advocate for the nursing profession as an active member of the Registered Nurses’ Association of Ontario (RNAO) in Durham Region. She later shared her extensive knowledge and leadership with the next generation of caregivers, concluding her distinguished career as a Professor of Nursing at Centennial College in Scarborough and at Ryerson University.

Outside of her dedicated career, Ann was an avid reader with a lifelong love of books. She cherished time spent outdoors camping, loved cruising and traveling to new places, and treasured every moment surrounded by her family and friends.

Predeceased by her loving husband of 43 years, Ron. Caring and loving mom of Andrew and Beth (Jeremy). Proud nana of Jack, Charlotte, Devon, and Cameron. Sadly missed by her siblings Peter (Susie), Karen (Bill), Hugh, and Ian (Barb), and her nieces Kate, Hannah, Jessie, and Mattie. Fondly remembered by her family, in-laws, and her close friends.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Tuesday, September 1, 2026, at McEachnie Funeral Home (28 Old Kingston Rd, Ajax). Visitation will take place from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, followed by the memorial service in the chapel at 11:00 AM. A reception will follow the service, with interment to take place at 2:30 PM at Pine Ridge Memorial Gardens.

To honour Ann’s love of colour, guests are invited to leave their black attire behind and dress in bright colours, including her favourites: yellow, coral, and purple.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
