Carmen Raquel Wright

It is with sadness we announce the peaceful passing of Carmen Wright, who was welcomed into the presence of her Lord and Saviour on Saturday, December 20th. Carmen leaves to mourn family and friends who will miss her greatly. In 1973 Carmen married her beloved John Wright (predeceased) and upon his retirement, Carmen and John settled in Pickering. After John’s passing, Carmen found companionship and joy in her adored dog, Rico, who remained close to her heart even after Rico’s death. Carmen’s strong Puerto Rican heritage and love was often expressed in talking about her family and the natural transition to speaking her native Spanish language.

Carmen was a faithful and supportive member at Pickering Pentecostal Church for almost 40 years. Carmen served as a Greeter and Usher; attended small groups on a regular basis; involved with a Church Choir and participated in worship times at PPC. Carmen attended regularly until COVID 19 and later health challenges.

Carmen will be lovingly remembered as a very elegant lady with a subtle soft side, especially for children. Carmen hosted children from the Watoto African Children’s Choir on several occasions. She had a passion for photography, was a talented seamstress, an avid gardener, and a generous host known for delicious, home-cooked meals. Carmen treasured her home and ensured that her residence was immaculate. Carmen’s strength of character provided the independence and ability to navigate life activities and events.

Carmen supported many charitable organizations throughout the years. In lieu of flowers and in memory of Carmen, donations can be directed to the Alzheimer Society of Canada.

A time to remember Carmen will be held at McEachnie Funeral Home in Pickering Village on Saturday, January 3rd, 2026. Visitation available at 10:00 am; Celebration of Life Service at 11:00 am; and a reception immediately following at McEachnie Family Centre.
