Dorothy Munro

In Loving Memory

Dorothy Maud Munro
1922 – 2026

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Dorothy Maud Munro on July 29, 2026. She did not go into the night quietly, but fought as hard and as long as her body and soul could last.

Dorothy was predeceased by her nephew, Ian Yarham. She is survived by Ian’s wife, Norma Yarham; their daughters, Erika Gilbert and Caroline Neale (James); each with a son and a daughter. She is also survived by her niece, Carole Hanrath (Dieter); their children, Olav Hanrath (Robbie) and Anders Hanrath and Jule Martens (Karl); six great-grandnieces and three great-great-grandnephews; and her cherished friend, Linda French.

Born in London, England, Dorothy served in the WAAF as a Spitfire mechanic during the Second World War. After the war, she spent a year travelling throughout Australia before immigrating to Canada in 1955, where she built a life filled with enduring friendships and memorable adventures.

Dorothy was the consummate hostess, entertainer, and genuine friend. She always had a story to tell, and somehow every one of them left those around her smiling.

Forever loved, forever remembered.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to McEachnie Funeral Home, Ajax.

In memory of Dorothy, the family kindly requests that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
