Ellen Winnifred Mason (nee Fraser) – Passed away following a brief illness on Sunday, May 25, 2025 in Oshawa, Ontario at the age of 94.
Predeceased by her parents Margaret and Roderick Fraser, her sister Mary (Willie), and her brother Chester.
Beloved wife of the late Robie Mason (1974).
Cherished mother of the late Robie (2018) and his wife Nikki, Roderick and his wife Lesia, Annie and her husband Bill, the late Margaret Smith (2021) and her husband Glenn, and Mary Jameson and her husband Wayne.
Loving grandmother of Robie (Celine), Christopher, Vanessa, Victoria, Tanya (Donald), William (Kristine), Richard, Ellen (Alan), April (Michael), Chris (Lora), Jenny (Bill), Nickey, Shayne (Tasha), Rhonda (Velas).
Great-grandmother of Steven, Ava, Rylan, Emma, River, Aaron, Ben, Elyssa, Mason (Stefanie), Brooklyn (Andrew), Benett, Hayden, Sarah, Nathan, James (Kayla), Paige (Matthew), Samuel, George, Nolan, Carter, Lily, Eddie, Kristina (Liam), Kassandra (Wyatt), Kevin, Levon, Rhea, and Lucas.
Great-great-grandmother of Isabel, Grayson, Colton, Charlotte, Hunter, Grey, Weston, Kal, Gwen, Shane, Matthew, Scarlett, Rhys
A deeply loved aunt, great aunt, and friend to many.
Born in Inverness, Nova Scotia and raised in nearby Pleasant Bay, Winnie was proud of her Maritime roots.
Winnie held many different roles over the course of her life, including teacher, waitress, and childcare worker.
A talented cook, baker, and knitter, Winnie showed her love through the food she made and the many items of clothing she knit.
Winnie was a woman of tremendous faith.
She loved her family deeply. They were her everything.
A great storyteller who enjoyed laughter, Winnie loved to sit and chat over coffee, tea, and the occasional rum and Coke.
A fan of older country music, Winnie loved the memories it evoked.
Funeral arrangements entrusted to McEachnie Funeral Home, 28 Old Kingston Rd., Ajax, ON, L1T 2Z7.
The family will receive visitors at the funeral home on Tuesday, June 3, 2025, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.
A funeral service will take place at the funeral home on Wednesday, June 4, starting at 1 p.m. with a reception to follow.
Special thanks to son-in-law Glenn Smith for his devotion and care for Winnie in recent years.
