Gary Foster

We are saddened to announce the loss of Gary Foster, who passed away peacefully on
Monday, September 1st, 2025 in Peterborough, Ontario.
Beloved Husband to Patsy for 45 wonderful years. Proud father to Rodney (Wayne),
Tammy (Laz) and Johnathan-predeceased (Catie) and bonus father to Cheryl (Martin) and
Shane (Dawn). He was a Cherished Grandfather/Great Grandfather to Theresa, Sarah,
Cody, Liam, Laszlo, Olive, Landon, Clarke, Sadie, Emily, Betty, Augustus and Jolene.
Predeceased by his parents Herbert and Beatrice Foster. He will be dearly missed by his
siblings Edwin (Sharon), Kenny-predeceased (Betty – predeceased) and Shirley (Bryant –
predeceased).
Gary grew up in Toronto, Ontario. He loved playing hockey in his younger days. He started
working at Canada Post when he was just 15 years old and retired after 42 years. He loved
his family dearly and enjoyed spending every moment he could with them. He especially
loved cuddling with Patty on the sofa, watching his boys play baseball and hockey, and all
the trips to Newfoundland. He was a fierce competitor and loved his games of Rook, poker,
ringers and throwing the football. Gary was a lifelong fan of the Toronto Maple Leafs, and
he will watch them win the Stanley Cup one day with his beloved son Jonny up in heaven.
Gary also loved placing bets at the racetrack and he sure loved his scratch tickets. He will
be missed beyond words by all that knew him.
A visitation will be held on Monday, September 8th from 12:00 – 1:00 pm at McEachnie’s
Funeral Home, 28 Old Kingston Road (Church St. and Kingston Rd.) in Ajax. A funeral
service will follow at 1:00 pm. Burial will take place at Pineridge Memorial Gardens, located
at Church Street and Taunton Rd. Lunch will follow after the burial at McEachnie’s Family
Centre.
