Gerardus (Gerry) Kerstens

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our father, father-in-law, Opa/Gopa and good friend to many, Gerardus Kerstens, passed away on January 12, 2026, at the age of 96.

Gerry as he was known to most was born on January 28, 1929 in Cuijk, Netherlands. Gerry was an avid participant at the Ajax Seniors Club, where he enjoyed the company of his friends while enjoying a cup of coffee and cookies, or while playing pool. He was an employee at GM in Oshawa for 26 years and retired in 1993.

Gerry was most at home when he was out in his yard/gardens, tending to all the flowers & roses and ensuring that the grass was cut on a regular basis. His love for the outdoors & gardening stayed with him right up to the end. In the summer months he also enjoyed riding his bike around “Pickering Village”, an activity that he brought with him from his homeland.

Gerry is predeceased by his wife (Johanna) of 65 years. Gerry is survived by his children, Martin (Janice), BettyAnne (Steve), Terry (predeceased Lorraine) (Jill) Gerry leaves behind his grandchildren – Kyle (Kaitlyn) his great granddaughter – Winnie, Ryan (Ashley), Brandon (Geoff), Matthew (Brittany), Connor (Emily), Cameron, Kersten (Vyk) & baby boy in April, Kristen (Paul), Alexandra (Kastner).

Lovingly remembered by his many family & friends in Holland.

Flowers are gratefully declined, but if friends desire contributions in his memory can be made to the Ajax Seniors Club at St. Andrew’s Friendship and Pickering Village Centres or a donation to a charity of your choice.
