Gerry Frank Miklos

In Loving Memory

Gerry Frank Miklos, born in Hamilton, Ontario, passed away on October 23, 2025, at the age of 64. Son of the late Andrew and Mary Miklos, Gerry was a man of contradictions — kind yet opinionated, Mensa-smart, meticulous, humorous, sincere, and always a gentleman.

Recognized for his keen intellect and love of debate, Gerry pursued his studies at McMaster University, earning a Bachelor of Arts degree, and later obtained a Bachelor of Education from Western University. He began his career at the Toronto Stock Exchange before finding his true calling as a teacher. For over 20 years, he inspired and challenged students in the Durham District School Board, teaching at Lakewoods and Cadarackque Public Schools.

An avid traveler, Gerry found joy in revisiting favorite destinations, especially Honolulu and London, and loved sharing his travel stories with friends. His generosity was expressed through thoughtful gifts and his zest for life.

Gerry retired from teaching in 2019. He will be deeply missed by his close friends Margaret Lazarus and Alice Davis, along with many other friends, colleagues, and neighbors who valued his wit, intelligence, and sincerity.

Rest in peace, Gerry. Your humor, intellect, and love of life will be remembered always.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held in honour of Gerry on Tuesday, November 4, 2025, at McEachnie Funeral Home, 28 Old Kingston Road, Ajax, Ontario (L1T 2Z7). Friends and colleagues are invited to gather for the viewing at 1:00 p.m., with the service to follow at 2:00 p.m.

All are welcome to join together in remembering and celebrating Gerry’s life, sharing stories, memories, and the love he brought to those around him.

Mr. Miklos you will be deeply missed. You taught me and so many of my family members. Even though you could be a bit intimidating and serious at times you never failed to make me laugh. One of the few teachers that really cared about your students. Things you’ve said to me still have a powerful impact on me 15 years later. Im glad I got to visit you before retirement. I’d always think about you here and there. Makes me sad to know no one will get to enjoy your whistling or obnoxious singing anymore. Rest in eternal peace.

Mr. Miklos, when I first saw you at Cadarackque I was always scared of you, but when I became your student in grade 8 I realized my impression of you was wrong. You were truly a nice, funny man, who cared about the kids he was teaching. I remember us walking to the Tim hortons with you at lunch trying to keep up with your pace, but we never could lol. You had a hand in helping me prepare for high school and adulthood. I’m glad I got to have you as my teacher and I will never forget the things you taught me. Rest in peace.
