John was born in Guyana on November 24, 1935. He was a brother to Frank, Cecil, and Patsy, whose memories he carried close to his heart throughout his life. He is lovingly remembered by his sister Yvonne, who continues to honour his legacy with gratitude and affection. ✨

Raised in the vibrant heart of Georgetown, John grew up with strong values rooted in respect, perseverance, and service. From an early age, he demonstrated a deep sense of responsibility and a genuine desire to make a positive difference. These qualities guided him into his first profession as a schoolteacher at Central High School.
Following his years in education, John continued his path of public service by joining the Guyana Customs Department. In this role, he distinguished himself through diligence, sound judgment, and an unwavering commitment to integrity. Colleagues admired his professionalism and steady leadership, while members of the community respected him for his fairness and principled approach. He carried out his duties with quiet pride, understanding that his work contributed to the broader good of the ones he loved.
Beyond his professional life, John’s greatest joy and most cherished accomplishments were found within his family. He was a devoted and loving husband to his beloved wife, Babsie. Their partnership was one of deep mutual respect, enduring affection, and steadfast support through life’s many seasons. Together, they built a home grounded in warmth, faith, and unity.
John was also a proud and deeply caring father to his daughter, Tracy. She remained the center of his world and a constant source of inspiration and pride. ❤️
Within the wider Guyanese community, John was widely known for his generosity of spirit and his welcoming nature. He had a remarkable ability to make others feel valued and heard. 🌹
Above all else, John was a man of principle — hardworking, compassionate, and steadfast in his commitment to doing what was right. His life was marked by service to others, deep love for his family, and an enduring belief in the importance of community.
