Mark Lucas

We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of our beloved Mark André Lucas, who was surrounded by the love of his family when he left us on January 16, 2026.

Mark was born in Barbados to Monica Lucas and Martineau Bouty, and he immigrated to the Greater Toronto Area as a teenager, where he built a life rooted in love, family, and community.

He was a devoted and loving husband to Lisa Lucas, a proud and devoted father to Kiah and Shea, a cherished brother to Sonia and Shanese, and a supportive uncle to Aedan, Aaron, Rakiya, Rakairi, and Shakeem. The moments of togetherness spent with those he loved most, meant everything to him.

Mark was hardworking but he believed just as strongly in enjoying life. His happiest moments were often spent back home in Barbados, surrounded by family and friends, enjoying good food, and a cold beer—or rum—in his hand.

Sports were a huge part of Mark’s life, not just as a fan but as a mentor and teammate. He gave many years to coaching community basketball, pouring his time and energy into young people. However, above all other sports, soccer was his greatest passion. Whether watching a match, playing in the men’s league, or cheering on his nephews from the sidelines, Mark’s love for the game was unmistakable. He lived and breathed the sport and was a devoted and lifelong Liverpool F.C. supporter.

Mark’s life ended far too soon but his spirit will live on—in family gatherings, in the rhythm of soca, in the fervor of the game he loved, and in the countless memories held close by all who loved him. He will always be with us.
