Oladele Babatunde Shonowo
In Loving Memory
Oladele Babatunde Shonowo, of Whitby, Ontario, Canada went to rest with the Lord on August 11, 2026.
Born in London, England to Mr. Joseph Olayode Shonowo and Mrs. Esther Kikelomo Shonowo, Oladele spent his early years in London, before relocating to Nigeria as a toddler where he completed his primary and secondary education. He later returned to London for his university education, where he studied accounting and began a career in which he would distinguish himself through integrity, diligence, and dedication.
Following his marriage to his beloved wife, Abimbola, he relocated to Canada in 2009. Together they shared many wonderful years serving God with their gifts, talents, and abilities. Determined to continue his professional calling in Canada, Oladele obtained his Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) certification.
A deeply devoted and loving husband, son, brother, uncle, trusted friend and colleague, Oladele is remembered for his love and service to God, quiet generosity, warm hospitality, and service to others. He approached both his personal and professional life with a strong sense of duty and an unwavering commitment to excellence.
Throughout his career as an accountant, Oladele was known for his in-depth knowledge of accounting and finance, strong ethical principles, and remarkable ability to simplify complex financial matters for his clients, colleagues, and church. Over the years, he served individuals, small businesses, and organizations with professionalism and genuine care, earning a reputation as a reliable advisor who approached every client concern as if it were his own.
Oladele also generously shared his knowledge and experience with younger generations, mentoring them in accounting and financial matters and offering guidance on career development, professional conduct, work-life balance, and personal relationships. His counsel was always thoughtful, practical, and given with a sincere desire to see others succeed.
At the heart of Oladele’s life was his family. He was a devoted family man whose life revolved around the well being of his wife, Abimbola and his family, friends, and colleagues. He expressed his love through his selflessness, dependability, and consistent support. He cherished time spent with loved ones, valued honest and meaningful conversations, and carried himself with humility and a deep sense of responsibility.
Oladele’s faith in God was central to who he was and guided him throughout his life. He was an active and committed member of The Garden, Restoring Life Ministries, where he served as a Board Member and Financial Controller/Adviser, providing guidance on financial stewardship and fiscal responsibility. His service to the church reflected both his professional gifts and his desire to use those gifts for the glory of God. Through every season of life, Oladele remained steadfast in his faith and trust in God. Even until the end, he held firmly to the assurance that Heaven was his ultimate home. We take comfort in knowing that he is now at rest with the Lord he loved and faithfully served.
Oladele’s legacy lives on in the many lives he touched—through his family, his faith, his friendships, his mentorship, his professional service, and the quiet acts of kindness that characterized his life.
Oladele will always be remembered by his loving wife, Abimbola and the entire Shonowo and Ogunkoya families.
Oladele, you will be sorely missed, never forgotten, and forever in our hearts.
