Pearl Fellis

In Loving Memory

Celebrating the life of Pearl Anita Fellis August 12 1939 to April 5 2025.

Saturday August 12 1939, a daughter was born, and a gift was given to the late Duncan Sandy and Lurencita Sandy. That baby girl grew up to be the loving lady we know as Pearl Anita Fellis. Whenever the history of the Fellis-Sandy family is written, Pearl Anita Fellis will be featured prominently.

On April 5 2025, God leaned over the Balconies of Heaven and called our Pearl Anita Home. just as she would round up her siblings in childhood when it’s getting dark outside…”come Home”,she Said, “it’s Suppertime upon the Golden Shore”.

A lady of humble beginnings, Pearl left the old homestead in Trinidad W.I after attending Marabella Girls’ E.C School. She was destined to be successful. Bursting with ambition, she migrated to Canada in 1969, where she attended George Brown College in Toronto, where she sharpened her skills. This newly acquired education propelled her into securing jobs with Publishers Clearance Book Co. and later as a medical clerk with the Alberta government when she relocated to Edmonton.

She was always hard working, devoted, and never shirked any responsibility. This was very noticeable in the way she would organize shipments of barrels to her homeland to be distributed, followed by the get-together in which she would share her cooking with people of all walks of life. Her motto was “live and give and die and leave, for we are all God’s children”. I clearly remembered her being questioned on one occasion as to why should she spend her hard earned funds with undeserving individuals. Her answer was simply to my delight: “When anything leaves my hand, it goes straight into the kingdom of God”.

Pearl is survived by her two sons Lennox Sandy and Leroy Sandy of Canada; four brothers Victor Sandy and Hollis Sandy of Canada, Elie Sandy and Errol Sandy of Trinidad; two sisters Wilma Sandy of Trinidad and Angela Fellis of Canada. Three grandchildren, Anita Sandy, Ayinka Sandy, and Leonard Sandy all of Canada; three great grandsons and many nieces and nephews. Life time friends Marjorie Vanderpool and Rosita Hinds.
Pearl was also preceded in death by an older brother, Vivian Sandy.
