Thomas H.C. Lewis
In Loving Memory
We are sad to share that Thomas H.C. Lewis has passed into the presence of his Lord on July 16th, age 66. Born on December 24th, 1958, Tom was in fellowship for 50 years, most recently at the Oshawa Gospel Hall and previously at the Victoria Park Gospel Hall (formerly known as Pape Avenue Gospel Hall).
A ‘snapshot’ of Tom for all who knew him: He loved his Lord first and always, followed by his family and the Assembly. He is now “with Christ, which is far better” Phil. 1:23
Although Tom has had multiple health issues which he handled with perseverance and grace over the past dozen years since his retirement he has always sought to be a help in his home assembly, serving as an Elder in the Victoria Park Assembly in Toronto for over 20 years and visiting as a Lay Preacher in multiple other congregations in the Metropolitan Toronto area and beyond.
He retired from the City of Toronto after working for 35 years as a Heavy Equipment Operator (HEO) for their Operations Division. Tom joined the City of Toronto in their Parks Division and did different positions for a number of years until he became an HEO for his remaining time at the City.
Tom was the beloved husband to Maureen Lewis (née Hood) with whom he would have celebrated 40 years of marriage in August of this year. He also enjoyed being a devoted father to Rebecca and Timothy and father-in-law to Noah Rodgers.
Also saddened to lose him will be his Siblings. Tom was a loving brother to Florence, Victor, Nancy and Mark…… Caring Brother-in-law to Dawn & Suzie… A cherished uncle to Kristen, Jennifer, Amanda, Jason, Dustin, Kevin, Kimberly, Ryan and Kyle…..as well as a great uncle to Shaiane and Eryn & great-great uncle to Savannah and Melanie.
Details of his funeral service are noted below.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Thomas’ memory may be made to the Canadian Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Canadian Diabetes Association.
