Violet Marie McCarthy
In Loving Memory
McCarthy, Violet Marie
November 18, 1940 – July 13, 2026
It is with great sadness and heartfelt love that we announce the passing of Violet Marie McCarthy, affectionately known as Marie, Grandma, Guppy, and Gigi. She leaves behind a loving husband of 67 years, 4 children, 6 grandchildren, and 2 great grandchildren.
Marie was born in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan with her twin Marvin to their loving parents Melvin and Gladys Fryklund. She lived a life rooted in faith, guided by compassion, and devoted to the people she loved most. A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, she found her greatest joy in caring for her family and creating a home filled with warmth, laughter, and unconditional love.
She was well known for her legendary homemade apple pies, her remarkable Scrabble skills, and her generous spirit. Whether gathered around the dinner table for one of her memorable family meals or enjoying a friendly game, Marie had a gift for bringing people together and making everyone feel welcome and loved.
Throughout her life, Marie dedicated herself to serving others as a compassionate social worker, offering kindness, support, and hope to those in need. Her deep Catholic faith was the foundation of her life, and she was a faithful and active member of St. Bernadette’s Catholic Church in Ajax, where she found strength, purpose, and community.
Family was the heart of everything Marie did. As a devoted mother, she was a constant source of wisdom, encouragement, strength, and unwavering love. She cherished every moment spent with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, delighting in family traditions, celebrations, and the simple joy of being together. Her legacy lives on in the values she instilled, the traditions she created, and the countless memories that will be treasured for generations.
Marie will be deeply missed and forever remembered by her beloved husband, Patrick; her children, Darcy, Debbie (Tony), Patrick (Carolyn), and Teresa (Kevin); her cherished grandchildren, Anthony, Tina (John), Katrina (Jay), Alexa, Julia, and Kiera; and her precious great-grandchildren, Abby and Lily. Though her presence will be profoundly missed, the love she shared so freely will continue to live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her.
