Adelaida (Aida) Lacuesta Raña Florentino, 84, passed away peacefully in the early morning of September 10, 2026, with her 5 loving grandchildren by her side at Lakeridge Health Ajax and Pickering Hospital.

Born on July 18, 1942 in Ilocos Norte in the Philippines to the late Juan Raña Sr. and Rufina Lacuesta Raña, Aida grew up with a deep love of caring for others. She graduated as a nurse from Centro Escolar University in Manila, Philippines. She fell in love and married Edgardo Florentino on February 6, 1967 and gave birth to three beautiful children, Joseph, Louie and Rhodora before relocating to Canada in 1974 to start a new life.

Aida’s dedication to the welfare of others continued through her nursing positions in various long term care homes for over 25 years.

After a fulfilling career in nursing, Aida poured that same deep love and passion for caregiving from her patients into her grandchildren. She had a rare kind of warmth that wrapped around everyone she met, making so many people naturally embrace her as a beloved sister or a second mother.

Throughout her life, Aida’s heart remained anchored in her unwavering devotion to our Lord, Jesus Christ.

Aida will be deeply missed by her husband of almost 60 years, Edgardo Florentino; eldest son, Joseph Florentino, his wife Zoraida Pura-Florentino and their son Kainoa and daughter Malia; son Louie Florentino; and daughter, Rhodora Florentino, her husband Paul Parkin, and their sons, Jared, Julius and Jayce.

She is also survived by her siblings and their spouses: Lourdes Baldonado; Dr. Lolita Garcia, brother-in-law Amante (Milagros) Magbual, Ernesto Raña, Juan Raña Jr., Nora (Ernesto) Pagat, Gloria Dagdagan and Nelly Lim.

She is predeceased by: her parents: Juan Sr. and Rufina Lacuesta Raña; and her siblings Jean Magbual, Ludovico Raña, Cleto Raña, and Wilfredo Raña.

Aida is also predeceased by Rogelio Baldonado Sr. (spouse of sibling Lourdes), Dr. Feliciano Garcia (spouse of sibling Dr. Lolita), Elma Yasay Raña (spouse of sibling Ernesto) and Joemer Dagdagan (spouse of sibling Gloria).
